A Young Paparazzi engages the Culture.

for everyone
My eyes widened every time someone picked up the microphone and went like...

“God told me.”

Even before they said a word, I imagined a dramatic night in which a curtain shook and a man in shining robes stood by the bedside.

While am sure such scenarios still happen, I’ve since got to learn through personal experience, that God communicates to us in a number of ways that cannot just be limited to only bedside appearances. I have learnt that God addresses us through many other ways. Circumstances, events, nature name it.

I have surrendered to the truth that the scriptures are the major microphone through which God speaks. It’s said that the ancient prophets longed to see the times like ours in which the world would have a messiah, God coming on earth in flesh, forgiving the sins of many and inviting them to a daily closeness with him.

A time in which God’s word would be available in a published format sold in bookstores and gift shops, Maybe those of Jeremiah longed to see a time in which God’s word would be telecast on Television, printed to a size of a personal copy, you know? Perhaps they craved to live in the time like ours today.

For likes of Moses, Balam, Isaiah and Abraham, hearing from God meant classy encounters like burning bushes, water gushes, speaking donkeys,uh?

And here we are today, with a full Bible, printed and compiled for us, resting dusty on our shelves Monday to Monday.

A grand opportunity to commune with God every second. And we just can’t. We would rather pick up the remote, or use the morning to listen in to that breakfast radio show than open these sound pages of wisdom.

What is our problem? Renowned Bible teacher Joyce Meyer seems to explain the longings we carry outside God’s word through her story.

“Even though I sincerely loved Jesus, I went to Church every day without knowing that God speaks to people. I observed all the religious rules and holidays. I went to Church every Sunday. I was doing all I knew to do that time.

But it wasn’t enough to satisfy my longing for God…it wouldn’t have quenched the thirst I had for deeper fellowship with the Lord.

I needed to hear him speak to me about my past and hear him speak about my future. But no one taught me God wanted to talk directly to me .No one offered a solution to the dissatisfied feelings I endured.

Through reading the word, I discovered that God does want to talk to us and does have a plan for our lives that will lead us to a place of peace and contentment.”

God speaks. it’s just that sometimes we are not willing to put away our clutter so we can hear him lead. Lead our feelings, emotions, attitudes consistently through his word.

In a country like ours with almost 80 percent Christians, if we all read the word fervently and muzzled it like nothing. A lot would change, including questions like these on whether God speaks to people, not so?
