A smart waitress, a brown mug and a colored poster. It’s Wednesday evening and I am relaxing on the balcony of this countryside restaurant.
Am wearing my favorite blue shorts and that means my legs will be embracing the cool breeze that comes from this western side. From where am seated, I can see a couple of cows treading through the high brown grass on the flatland.
Anyway I won’t be distracted by this flora and fauna, I will choose to focus on utilizing my time while here to tell you about this amazing restaurant. This is the only restaurant I have been to that has wooden floor. I don’t know whether I needed to say that anyway but there you go, I have already said it,
Y-e-a-h.
This smart waitress has just dropped the restaurant menu on my table and scanning through it, I have just witnessed the most bizarre food menu of all time. I mean, where do you go to eat and find these as your choices to choose from, listen, let me read for you. The first on this menu is …
Television fingers (whether that is edible, only God knows) -5000
Self help chapati’s – 2000
Humanistic ideas mixed with vain philosophies - 1500
Worldly slogans mixed with inspiration quotes sausages- 500
They are that cheap. From the waitresses’ look, it looks like there is no milk in this place but please reader give me a minute so I ask first.i will get back to you.
…
There you go… she’s says the milk they have is a bit dilute it’s not that pure. It’s got too much water.
Well you know, am leaving this place, I cannot stand this. How can an entire restaurant lack pure milk? These guys remind me of something my dad told me years ago, I will never forget, I still remember him holding my chin and warning me as a little boy.he said
“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” (1 Peter 2:2-3)
“And If you don’t, you will get malnourished and your spiritual hair will grow brown” (well he didn’t say that) but anyway, this restaurant reminds me of the other big restaurant we live in called “WORLD.” the world offers us many things that sometimes look and sound good. Sometimes they are slogans like “God helps those who help themselves etc ” These lines sometimes come disguised in self-help books, Oprah Winfrey etc and even Christian books. They sound nice and inspirational but they are totally not the
Word-of-God.
They simply malnourish us and make our spiritual hair go brown
Unless we Christians crave for the pure spiritual milk of the word of God, unless we apportion time to study God’s word daily, am afraid we will remain stunted. Jesus told us man shall not live on - read Rolex and sausages alone - but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God (Mathew 4:4). What are you feeding on? How much time are you spending in the word of God daily? Are you studying scripture or just reading scripture
Crosscheck, your spiritual hair could be getting brown and you may be in the wrong restaurant too?
Don’t say I never warned you.
